When will I receive my package?
All orders will be processed and shipped within 2 business days. Depending on where you are in the country will determine the delivery time. I would expect your package to arrive within 5-6 business days maximum.
You will receive your electronic Detox Guide in your email on the same day that you purchase.
What is the 4YHEALTH Detox?
The 4YHEALTH Detox is a comprehensive detoxification program that allows your body 14 or 21 days to reset and remove harmful toxins from your body. These toxins can cause weight gain, bloating, dry skin, brain fog, mood disorders, and hormone imbalances. The results from the 7-Day detox have been shown to improve many of these issues in most people.
Do you provide all meals or do I still have to purchase groceries in addition to it?
Each 14-day Detox comes with 14 breakfast and 14 afternoon shakes. The food shopping list will be emailed to you, but you would purchase your own lunch and dinners for days 3-7. (Days 1 and 2 are 4 shakes per day and are supplied for you.)
If you look at 4yhealth.com/detox under the product description, down near the bottom, you will see a price breakdown of food costs vs. using the Detox and you will see that you are most likely saving money on food with this detox.
How many scoops of protein should I use for my shakes?
For each and every shake you should use about 80-90% of a full flat scoop.
Should I do 14 or 21 Days?
This is really a personal choice and may be dependent on your budget. The 21 Day Detox is my best recommendation for everyone, but if you have a budget or you simply want to maintain wellness, then the 14 days may be for you.
How often can I do the detox?
It was common for a lot of the Eastern based philosophies to detox seasonally (4 times per year). That is certainly a good recommendation. Two 14-Day Detoxes could be split into four 7-Day Detoxes performed at the beginning of each season to maintain your new shape and health. Many clients will use a 14-Day Detox twice a year or a 21-Day Detox once a year. You may choose to implement a detox to help combat the effects of travel, holidays, and occasional slip-ups in nutrition. I recommend continuing with the morning shake (with some fruit added in) for every day maintenance use once your Detox is over.
Is coffee allowed?
I do not recommend having coffee/caffeine during the detox in order to see the best results. However, if you are not able to give up coffee I recommend only having about 6oz of black coffee or tea in the morning. Be careful with your teas as well as a lot of them can contain caffeine.
Can I modify the detox to eat during the first 2 days?
I do not recommend eating during the first 2 days in order to give your body the time to remove toxins with out the stress of digesting food. However, if you are not trying to lose weight I do recommend using spinach and blueberries in your smoothies. If it is essential that you eat during the first 2 days you may follow the guidelines for days 3-7.
Where can I find the detox food guide and shopping list?
You can find a copy of the Detox Guide and Approved Foods list at:
What if I miss a shake?
If you miss a shake you can pick up with the next scheduled Detox Shake – there is not need to add another one.
What if I miss one of the capsules?
If you miss taking the Liver Detox capsules you can pick up with the next scheduled capsules – there is no need to take additional ones.
Do I have to have to the Detox capsules at the same time as the shake?
No. I have simply suggested this time because easily allows you to remember to take them and to get the right dose for the day. You can certainly take them apart from the shake though as long as you are gettign the right dose.
How much water should I drink?
You should be consuming about 80-100oz of water each day throughout the detox. Much of this will be from the shakes themselves (each one is about 20 ounces). Additional water is only needed if you feel thirsty.
Are nut milks allowed on the detox?
Yes, if you cannot do straight water with the powder you may use a 50/50 ratio of unsweetened nut milk with water.
If wishing to use coconut milk, it is okay to use about 1-2 tsp as part of a meal or recipe but is preferable that the main sources of fats are monounsaturated (avocado, olive oil) as they are easier to digest than saturated fats.
Can I use herbs and spices?
Yes, herbs and spices are okay to use for seasoning your food. In fact, I highly recommend it. Ginger, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, black pepper, oregano, parsley... all amazing.
*Note: some herbs including garlic and onion can act as a prebiotic and cause bloating which may slow weight loss and increase gut dysfunction. If this happens on days 3-7 I recommend cutting back on those products.
Is there anyone who should NOT do the detox?
Please consult your healthcare practitioner if you are under 18, pregnant or lactating, have liver or kidney disease, gallbladder conditions, appendicitis, eating disorder, type 1 diabetes, or if any of your medications are contraindicated with any of these ingredients
Should I continue with any prescribed medication during the detox?
During the detox you should stay on all prescription medication prescribed by your healthcare practitioner, please also confirm that none of your medications are contraindicated with any of the ingredients in the detox.
Can I continue taking other vitamin/mineral supplements while on the detox?
Yes, just not on the fasting days 1 & 2, unless specifically told to by your health practitioner.
+ How do I maintain my results after the detox?
My goal is to help you get the best results humanly possible, while at the same time teaching you a healthy lifestyle plan. To maintain all your results I simply recommend a daily breakfast or mid-afternoon smoothie with the same or similar supplements. It is what I use personally to stay feeling healthy & looking great!
What do I eat after the 21 day detox?
I recommened you continue with a natural organic protein powder and greens product in the morning as part of your breakfast smoothie, as well as some fruit added and any other superfoods you would like to add.
For lunch you can continue on with a vegan or vegetarian lunch or begin to add in Paleo type protein if you prefer.
Snack is optional and it can be another smoothie, just the shake and powder, or a snack such as: a handful of nuts, cut up veggies and guacamole or hummus, a cup of fruit, or a fresh vegetable juice. Dinner can be the same style as lunch.
Lunch and dinner can also include some gluten-free starch if you are not trying to lose weight.
You can also do one to two cheat meals per week as desired based on your goals.
Can I use vinegar on the detox?
I do not recommend vinegar on the detox because it is acidic and it can feed yeast or bacterial overgrowth. Instead, try using lemon or lime for acidity/flavour instead.
Do you offer support during the Detox?
Absolutely! Inside your Detox Guide you’ll see a link to a sign-up page to get almost daily instructive & motivational emails directly from myself, and you can always email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is also our Private Facebook group for further support from myself and other group members. I'm here to help and make sure you succeed!
Can I change the timing of my shakes?
If you need to wake up earlier than the example times listed on the instructions, you should drink lemon water upon waking up. Then have your first shake no earlier than 6:00am and have the remaining shakes 3.5-4 hours apart.
Can I drink anything besides water?
Yes, you may also drink unsweetened and caffeine-free herbal teas; especially ginger tea. Please avoid coconut water or any beverages with sugar (natural or added).
Should I be having daily bowel movements?
Decreased bowel movements during the first 2 days of the detox is normal because you are not consuming whole foods and only drinking liquids. After you introduce meals again on day 3, bowel movements should begin returning to normal. To alleviate any constipation consider some magnesium citrate as a supplement at night.
Can I cook my food on the detox?
Yes, you may cook your food. It is best not to cook in oil, but instead, either steam, bake, broil, slow cook, or sauté (pan-fry) in a little water to prevent sticking. You may then add 1-2 TBSP of olive oil as a dressing along with a squeeze of lemon.
Can I chew gum during the detox?
Ideally no, but if needed you may have sugar-free gum and only right after a meal. Chewing gum stimulates digestion, which can be beneficial after eating. However, chewing gum in-between meals can make you hungry and make the detox more difficult to complete.
Can I have sparkling water during the detox?
I recommend avoiding all carbonated drinks during the detox. After you complete the detox sparkling water is okay.
I can’t swallow pills, is it okay to open up the capsules?
Yes, you can mix the powder from the capsules into the shakes or even mix them up with a little raw honey or 1 tsp of apple sauce. Please keep in mind that the powder may taste bitter.
Will doing the detox lower my thyroid?
Since the liquid fast days only last for 48 hours, you should not have any ill effects on your thyroid. However, if you are worried about your thyroid levels, you may use the days 3-7 meal plan for the entire 7 days and not do the 2 liquid fast days. Your weight loss, if desired, will be less, but you will still get the health benefits. Another alternative would be to just do 1 single liquid fast day and then move right into the days 3-7 meal plan.
I don’t want to lose weight, can I still do the detox?
Absolutely! If you are not trying to lose weight, I do recommend adding 1c of blueberries in your smoothies on days 3-7. There is a section on the food shopping list titled "Extra Carbs" that has fruits and carbs that you can eat if weight loss is not your main goal. Also, you could just do the first 2 days of fasting as recommended and then follow the instructions for days 3-7 for the rest of the detox.
Can I complete the detox while pregnant or nursing?
No, I do not recommend completing the detox while pregnant or nursing because that may expose your child to toxins your body will be releasing.
Can I do an infrared sauna, or coffee enema, or colonic while completing the detox?
If you would like to use an infrared sauna, coffee enema, or colonic while completing the detox, it is best to do so during days 3-7, after you have completed the fasting portion so that your body is stronger and able to work with the increased detoxification treatments.
This seems strict, why is no fruit allowed?
First off, I love fruit as much as anyone. I’m definitely not against fruit and carbohydrates. However, know that this detox is designed this way for a certain reason. We are temporarily removing a lot of carbohydrates to reset and optimise your body’s ability to use glucose effectively. Your blood sugar profile throughout the day is very important part of maintaining a healthy body weight and this detox is designed to improve your blood sugar regulation. I know this can be a big change in the way you usually eat, and even seem like a lot to ask at first… but that’s kind of the point. If you do what you’ve always done, you get what you’ve always got.
Keep in mind this is temporary, 14 or 21 days depending on your choice. You can reintegrate your favourite fruits and starches back into your diet gradually once the detox is complete. Also, if weight loss is not a goal of yours, or if hypoglycemia is a potential issue for you, feel free to customise the shakes and meals to include more fruit and healthy starches :)
Do I have to do shakes only for Days 1 & 2?
The detox is designed this way as this is quite simply the most effective way to achieve total body re-balancing. While I urge you to try your very best to stick to the detox as outlined if weight loss is a goal, I will never say there is only one way for everyone. There is definitely room for customisation as long as you stick to the approved foods list.
I would advise trying shakes only for Days 1 & 2, and if you find it was too much, or your body didn’t do well with it, perhaps you just continue the Day 3-7 eating plan (whole food meals at lunch and dinner) for week 2 instead of doing the shake fasting again.
Other options include doing just 1 day of shake fasting each week instead of 2 or perhaps using the Day 3-7 eating plan for the whole detox and doing no shake fast days. You will still see fantastic results :)
Just know that the detox is designed how it is purposely and optimal results for most people will be achieved by sticking to the plans as outlined.
Do I continue my normal workout program during the detox?
It is recommended that you minimise your workouts during the shake fast days. When the body is fasted it should be resting and rejuvenating for maximum benefits. The body is more prone to stress when in a fasted state and exercise can be too much for some. Light exercise such as walks, gentle yoga, stretching... these are all great energy building and restorative exercises you can use on Days 1 & 2 (and 8,9,15,16).
For the days you are consuming whole foods, feel free to continue your regular exercise schedule. However I recommend you pay close attention to your energy levels. Even with the whole food meals added in this is still a low calorie eating plan and you may not have the reserves you are used to. If so, scale back or maybe add some extra carbs to your next meal using the Food Guide.
I have leftover greens powder and protein. Did I use the right amount?
As long as you stuck to the dosage sizes in the instructions you are all good.
At the end of a 14-Day Detox you should still have about a third of your greens powder left, and perhaps a little bit of protein powder. The measurements used aren't exact so it will vary for each person.
After a 21-Day Detox you should have used almost all you greens powder and have about half of your second bag of protein powder left.
This way you can continue your breakfast shakes going forward after the detox and keep up the good nutritional habits.
My Shake Doesn't Mix Very Well
This will depend on the method of shaking/blending used. I recommmend a blender or mixer of some sort rather than just a shaker bottle. I personally use a Ninja and my shakes mix up just fine.
Some settling can occur over time but it's nothing a quick shake up can't fix.
This may be one of those things where you just have to suck it up and remember it's a bit of a first world problem. You'll get used to the shakes quick enough :)
Is my shake supposed to taste like this?
I can't say! We all experience the taste differently and unfortunately you can not try before you buy with the shake flavours. My personal favourite is Lemon Cheesecake. It's a bit sweeter and I find it very nice. Salted caramel is good but don't expect a strong caramel flavour. Vanilla and Chocolate are both what you would expect, both pretty mild in terms of flavouring.
Some people may mix the greens and the protein which will give a different taste again, and some may have them separate. As long as you have them both.
Is it normal to have low energy/feel light headed/have a skin reaction/some sort of abnormal reaction?
Yes and no.
Yes it can be very normal to feel lower energy, especially on the shake fast days and the first week as your body adjusts. This is a temporary low calorie detox plan so may not be consuming as much energy as you usually would. Everyone reacts differently.
Some light headedness can be experienced during shake fast days. If this happens and it is abnormal for you, you may want to consider adding some fruit (0.5-1 cup) to your next shake. You could also try lemon/lime juice and a pinch of sea salt in some water as it may be low electrolytes.
Everyone reacts to the process of detoxification differently. As you begin to release toxins from your fat cells they re-enter the blood stream and can have the same effect as when they first came into the body. This is called 'toxin die-off'. People can experience toxin die off symptoms temporarily as the toxins make their way out of the body.
If you have concerns please reach out in the Facebook Group or email me at email@example.com and someone will be able to help you out.
I feel bloated after having the shake and supplements, is this normal?
Bloating after consuming the shake and supplements is often a sign of weak digestion. If this occurs, it is best to drink the shake slowly over the course of 60 minutes.
+ I don't like my protein/greens powder, can I exchange it for a different flavour?
Yes, but you will have to pay for the new bag. I will only charge cost price.
I'm not happy with the Detox Package I purchased, can I get my money back?
I'm sorry to hear you did not have a good experience with your detox. I offer a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee which you can see the details of at 4yhealth.com/detox. Also, I would love to hear your feedback and why this product wasn't to your liking. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know what you didn't like and any recommendations for improvement. I appreciate your help on this.
There's no scoop in my greens powder...
The company has recently phased out plastic spoons from their products for environmental reasons. Using a standard teaspoon as shown in the instructions is fine.
Are cheat meals/snacks allowed?
There are no cheat/flex meals designed into the detox plan as it would defeat the purpose of removing all inflammatory foods for this period. May I suggest you have one the day before you start to get it out of your system and reduce the temptation during the detox. At the end of your detox, I encourage you to celebrate your success and have ONE meal where you eat whatever you like. Enjoy it, guilt free. Just don't overdo it, we don't want to undo the progress you've made.
Snacks should not be needed. With Breakfast, Lunch, a shake for afternoon snack, and Dinner, you should feel satiated throughout the day. If you start your day really early or finish really late and there's a long time between some of your meals, perhaps try another shake, or some veggie sticks. Try to stick to the foods list as much as you can.
Can I eat after Dinner?
It is recommended that you do not have any foods after dinner. You should aim to have your last meal at least 2-3 hours before bed. This allows proper time for digestion and for blood sugar levels to drop back down to normal before sleep.
I get hungry before my next meal...
Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. Have a big glass of water and see if that helps. If you are finding you getting hungry 1-2 hours after your last meal, I would encourage you to think about whether it is real hunger. It is ok for our tummy to grumble every now and then. This plan is something it is not used to and so it will take a few days for it to adapt. If the problem continues, it is most likely not enough protein at the previous meal. Increase your protein portion and see if that helps.
Why is lunch vegetarian?
Animal protein is typically harder to digest and during this detox we are giving our digestive system a break.
A lot of the typical animal protein people buy is non-organic as well, and is therefore loaded with toxins we don't want in the body during this period of time.
Having a vegetarian lunch also allows you to get an extra serve of vegetables for your day.
